Red Sea November 13
We departed Safaga just after 9 pm last night, after everyone had returned from various excursions. All tired but very happy! Some flew to Luxor the day before and stayed overnight, others left on a 6am flight just for the day, and then there were the 13 hour bus tours which is what George did. Have never seen the pool deck restaurant so busy as most went straight to dinner there, dusty and all!!! And you can’t go to the other restaurants in jeans or shorts.
So today, the first of four sea days, the only decisions to be made were what time for breakfast, a lecture or wander, a coffee mid morning, then somewhere to read for a while. Or of course a deck chair at the pool! A bit hot for me, to be honest, but plenty enjoying the sun. At 11 I tried my luck at bingo - have a lot of credit so will be trying to use it up!
The Captain’s noon address informed us we were approaching pirate waters and there was a crew drill explaining what to do should we be attacked. We remember from last time that passengers would be told to return to their rooms, close all curtains, turn off lights and then move to the corridors and be seated! It’s most unlikely this will happen but have to be prepared
I’ve spent the afternoon reading on our balcony, was perfect. So the only decision left is where to have dinner - the Compass Rose dining room, Pacific Rim Asian, La Chartruese French or Sette Mari Italian. Or BBQ on the pool deck. Plenty of options but will need to work up an appetite first. Settled on Compass Rose and shared with a nice couple who are from San Antonio, US and have lived everywhere!
To be honest, I feel very spoiled , all this time to fritter away, when I should be home preparing for Christmas! But of course Christmas for us will be in Airlie Beach - what a change from the norm!!!
The entertainment tonight was a guy singing Buddy Holly songs so all the oldies were bopping along!!!
Our clocks forward an hour tonight, back to 8 hours behind Melbourne.
