Bali, Indonesia, December 17
Not too much to report today unless things liven up in the evening LOL!! I had cancelled my tour with G so didn’t need to rush anywhere. After breakfast I walked off the ship to the port and a couple of shops surrounding the area but when we were here a few years ago the streets were lined with stalls all selling stuff we didn’t need - is quite the opposite today, hardly any people selling their wares. Am thinking covid has no doubt been responsible for many issues like this. All along the way the tour guides have been thanking us profusely for coming to visit - in some cases our ship was the first there in nearly three years.
Most interesting sitting on my balcony this afternoon with speedboats dragging bananas and RIB’s - and in several cases managing to upend their passengers!! I think they were showing off in front of us. Some were muslims in full dress code too.
And my book reading was interrupted every 4 minutes by low flying aircraft about to land at Denpasar. And no matter what, I can’t resist looking up to see which airline it is! Ne’er a dull moment on this side of the ship today.
Had dinner with a couple we met at our block party a few nights ago. They are from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She’s like the queen bee - knows a lot of the crew, keeps an eye on things, makes sure she’s seated in the right part of the dining room etc, reminds me so much of other similar ladies we’ve met on cruises before. Husband Tim just goes along with her, is very accepting and such a gentleman.
I went to the show which was the Regent singers and dancers performing songs and dance from around the world but as usual the finale was Irish dancing, with 2 singing ‘You Raise me Up’ then finishing with River Dance. Was fabulous. Such a pity G misses out on these wonderful shows, not that they’re all good by any means.
We’re on our way to Australia π¦πΊπ¦πΊ - Darwin on 20th!!!!!
