Singapore, December 12

I can’t say I had the best day in Singapore as it was SO humid and I am like a wilted cabbage in humidity.  Most passengers disembarked this morning and so it was a bit hectic in the elevators and lounges.  Sad to see a lot of the crew leave but I’m sure the next ones will be just as good.

Indonesian friends who now live in Singapore met us at the terminal and we drove to the Botanical Gardens. Both our tours had been cancelled and I was disappointed about not going to a couple of places but we then accepted the offer of the gardens and for me the option of cutting it short to go back to the shopping mall near the cruise terminal.  After an hour walking in the humidity I was totally over it and offered to get a cab but Suhendra insisted that his driver take me back while they continued in the orchid enclosure.  Bit of a surprise as George hasn’t visited the Botanical Gardens across the road from where we live for decades!

Back at the Mall I wandered for a while, didn’t do any damage to the wallet but enjoyed ME time.

Like yesterday, the gardens and malls were really busy as children are now on school holidays.  There was a festive air with small trees along the pathways being decorated with Christmas baubles and messages.

Heard today that both our excursions in Airlie Beach are cancelled - not sure if it’s because of Christmas Day or what. Have never experienced so many tours being cancelled on cruises, and especially at the last minute.

No more for now, wifi is a bit temperamental tonight & have to get this posted so a couple of friends have to something to read with their morning coffee.  This all seems so trivial, maybe once we hit Indonesia I’ll be able to add a few facts and figures on the ports.  Meanwhile there’s a heavy storm outside with lightening, thunder and strong winds.  The boat is rocking.
