The Tasman Sea, December 27
Gosh, thank goodness we’re almost home as my pen is running out of ink! A couple of special birthdays today, Jacinta in BNE is 21 again and Steven in Syd is 80 so happy birthday!
It’s been another cool and windy day as we head towards Newcastle. Sunbakers were still able to spend a few hours poolside but the pool was drained last night due to the rough seas - apparently water splashing up on to the next level! All good now.
The last couple of days before leaving from a cruise are always a little bitter sweet - winding down, saying at least three goodbyes to people we’ve befriended and keep seeing, starting the packing which always seems worse than it should be and then getting those labels two nights before arrival so that bags can be put in the corridor by 10 the next night. And usually there’s a sea day before arrival but tomorrow we’re in Newcastle with tours! All third world stuff and I’m sure we’ll manage as usual.
This afternoon we joined a large group of people to go theatre backstage and see how it all happens! Backstage at any normal theatre is usually congested but the ship backstage is something else! How they manage in such a small space is a mystery!
Before dinner we attended the third Krew Kapers show in 61 nights - again it was terrific, such talent from waiters, housekeeping, laundry, bar attendants etc. even the captain turned up - I shook his hand as we exited the theatre, wanted to make sure he was real as he hasn’t been very obvious around the ship!
Dinner was lovely, we joined friends from the UK who will be visiting their son and his family in Sydney for a couple of weeks. Went to the show, the Magician, afterwards, but have no idea why I bothered as he was terrible!
