Timor Sea, December 19
If yesterday was a no news day then today is even more so! Although I did go to a very interesting lecture, marine life again, about octopus, blue ringed octopus and giant clams. In fact the lecture title was ‘Mollusc Spit & the Blue Ring Octopus’. Gloeta Massie is the marine biologist and she works between Hawaii and Australia and she’s fantastic with her explanations. She also spoke about the south sea Pearl industry.
My next challenge is to find something to spend our shipboard credit on. I did have a hair trim this morning and was surprised when the hairdresser told me there’s been a price change since my last cut (which was $105) and that today it would be $45 + surcharge!!! Crazy! Last time we had an almost non-verbal experience but today Daryl was keen to talk and tell me he doesn’t enjoy working on the ship, too much pressure etc. I can see how he might not fit in, to be honest, as he has subtle streaks in his hair, appears to have Botox lips, is so gentle and quietly spoken and I think is transitioning! We came back to the ship at the same time the other day and he was dressed in very feminine clothes, lipstick, eye shadow, 5 diamonds in each ear and he sashayed off to the elevator in great style. He’s really nice, we got on well! A nice change!
Drinks and dinner tonight with some nice friends from the UK and we didn’t have to rush to see the show as the comedian, from Melbourne, was so bad the other night we walked out! Just came up on the elevator with some people who said they’d also walked out tonight - poor bloke is terrible!
Till tomorrow, M x
